Auburn Police Officer Ali is being praised for his bravery and compassion after saving a woman in crisis who was sitting on the edge of a bridge, contemplating suicide.
According to the Auburn Police Department, the emotional incident unfolded recently when Officer Ali responded to a 911 call about a distraught woman on a bridge.
Upon arriving, he found her sitting on the edge, visibly distressed and at risk of jumping.
With a calm and caring approach, Officer Ali was able to gain the woman’s trust and physically pull her to safety before she could harm herself.
After the rescue, he remained with her, offering comfort and connecting her with mental health resources to support her recovery.
“This was not just an act of bravery, but one of deep humanity,” the department stated in a release. “Officer Ali’s actions may have saved a life that day, and we hope this moment serves as a reminder that help is always available, even in your darkest moments.”
