Fire crews from Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) responded to a confirmed residential structure fire in Auburn on Saturday afternoon, July 19, 2025.
The fire was reported at 4:48 p.m. at a residence located in the 900 block of 17th Street NE.
Dark black smoke from the blaze could be seen for miles around the area, as witnessed in these photos taken at Emerald Downs:


According to dispatch records, more than a dozen units were mobilized to the scene, including ladder, engine, and command units.
The first units, including L374, E334, E365, E471, and A371, were dispatched simultaneously at 4:48 p.m. Additional resources, including B331, D307, and Timer4, were also sent shortly after. Units E336 and A45 were among the last dispatched, at 4:52 p.m.
No further details about injuries, damage, or cause of the fire have been released as of Sunday, July 20.
The incident location is just northeast of downtown Auburn, near the Thomas neighborhood.
VRFA is leading the response and investigation.
