Fire crews from Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) and South King Fire responded to a log jam fire on the Green River near Fenster Nature Park in Auburn on Wednesday morning, Sept. 25, 2024.
Multiple fire departments were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of the fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters used a drone to survey the area and assess the scope of the fire, which was located within a section of the river. The drone’s aerial footage helped crews determine the best course of action for tackling the flames.
Firefighters worked for several hours to contain the fire, which was smoldering within the log jam, making it difficult to extinguish completely.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
Crews remained on site until the situation was under control.
