The 2020 United States Census counts every person living in the United States and five U.S. territories. This coming April, each home will receive an invitation to respond to a short questionnaire—online, by phone, or by mail.
It is important to respond to the census to ensure an accurate population count for our city (county, and state). Historically Auburn has had a low turnout for the Census. An inaccurate count of our city’s population can impact things such as fair political representation, proper allocation of tax dollars, and the ability to participate in federal grant programs (just to name a few).
Here’s a quick explainer on what the census is. We know you’ve got more questions, so stay tuned – because we’ve got answers!
