A suspected DUI crash late Tuesday night, July 15, 2025 near the SR 18 and SR 167 interchange sent two men to the hospital and blocked northbound traffic for nearly four hours, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
WSP said the crash occurred at approximately 10:50 p.m. Tuesday night, when a silver 2000 Chevy Silverado traveling eastbound on SR 18 lost control while approaching SR 167 near Auburn.
Here’s how the incident unfolded:
- Vehicle was traveling eastbound on SR 18 approaching the ramp to northbound SR 167.
- Driver lost control of the vehicle.
- The truck spun out and struck the right-side guardrail.
- It continued traveling along the guardrail for approximately 50 feet while facing the wrong direction.
- Vehicle came to a stop in Lane 1 of the northbound SR 167 off-ramp.
- The incident shut down the roadway for 3 hours and 51 minutes, Troopers said.
The driver, 22-year-old from Auburn, was injured and transported to Auburn Medical Center. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He is facing charges of vehicular assault.
His passenger, a 22-year-old also from Auburn, sustained injuries and was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report. He was also taken to Auburn Medical Center for treatment.
Troopers confirmed that drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision.
The Silverado was totaled in the crash and was towed from the scene.
