A river rescue operation at Flaming Geyser State Park ended tragically on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 when the missing individual was found deceased at the scene.
Mountain View Fire & Rescue, Puget Sound Fire, and Enumclaw Fire responded to the emergency, deploying a raft, kayaks, and rescue swimmers in a coordinated effort to locate the missing person in the Green River.
The King County Sheriff’s Office and King County Medic One also provided critical assistance during the operation.
Despite the swift and extensive response, officials confirmed that sadly, the victim had passed away by the time rescue teams reached them. Additional support was provided by Renton Regional Fire Authority and Guardian One, a helicopter unit that assisted in the search.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
