In recognition of National Gun Violence Awareness Day, Public Health — Seattle & King County and the City of Auburn will host a free gun lockbox giveaway this Friday, June 6, 2025, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Auburn City Hall Plaza, 25 W. Main Street (map below).
The free event is open to the public, and no registration is required.
Organizers will offer free lockboxes to encourage safe firearm storage as a means to prevent accidental injuries, suicides, and gun thefts.
A brief program and live demonstration on proper lockbox use will precede the giveaway.
Organizers say the event is part of a broader effort to promote responsible gun ownership and community safety.
“Safe storage saves lives. These lockboxes are one simple but effective way to help prevent tragedies,” said a representative from Public Health — Seattle & King County.
The initiative aligns with national campaigns aimed at reducing gun violence and improving public safety, especially in households with children or vulnerable individuals.
The event is first come, first served while supplies last.
