The Auburn School District World Schools Debate Team recently won the state team championship at the state debate competition at Gonzaga University.
The team members are:
- Isaac Gerstner (Auburn High)
- Emily Helms (Auburn High)
- Annie Lee (Auburn Riverside High)
- Lawand Muhsen (Auburn High)
- Osiris Romero (Auburn High)
They competed against 10 teams, defeating the team they lost to in last year’s championship.
They move on to represent Western Washington at the national competition in June, held in Iowa.
Auburn High speech and debate coach Erika Pinto-Moore was selected as the Western Washington District Coach of the Year, and Auburn High assistant principal Tim Carstens was chosen as the Western Washington District Administrator of the Year for his support of speech and debate.
