Registration is open for a free six-week Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course in Auburn, offering residents hands-on and classroom training for medical emergencies, natural disasters and other crisis situations.
The course will cover disaster response, injury treatment, fire extinguishing, search and rescue, emergency communications and related emergency preparedness skills, according to the announcement.
Registration closes Aug. 12. Classes will be held every Wednesday from Aug. 26 through Sept. 30, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at 1 E. Main St., Suite 380, in Auburn.
The course also includes two mandatory Saturday drills. The first is scheduled for 9 a.m. to Noon Sept. 19, and the second is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 3.
CERT training is adaptable to any ability level. Participants must be 16 or older, with no upper age limit, or ages 13 to 15 if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
