The original crash occurred just after 4:30 p.m. on June 24, 2023, when a motorcycle traveling eastbound on SR 18 attempted to exit onto C Street in Auburn.

A vehicle — later identified as a beige sedan — was reportedly driving the wrong way up the ramp, causing the motorcycle to go down.

Troopers arrived to find a female motorcyclist on the ground with a severe leg injury. A WSP trooper immediately applied a tourniquet before fire crews arrived and airlifted the woman to Harborview Medical Center.

The case remained open for nearly two years as WSP detectives worked to identify the suspect and vehicle.
