A motorcyclist died in a collision with a train Monday, Nov. 2, near West Main Street and C Street NW in Auburn (map below), according to the Auburn Police Department.
Patrol and traffic officers responded about 11:50 a.m., but sadly, the motorcyclist was dead when officers arrived.
Witnesses told investigators the motorcyclist rode past the lowered railroad crossing arms before the collision.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
West Main Street was closed between C Street NW and B Street NW at the time of the department’s announcement. Police asked drivers to avoid the area and use another route.
The department said it would release additional information as it becomes available.
