West Valley Highway South will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting tonight, Tuesday, Aug. 13, through Sunday, Aug. 18, as construction progresses on the new South County Recycling and Transfer Station.
The closures will affect the stretch of the highway between 1st Avenue N. and South 344th Street.
Travelers are advised to seek alternative routes during the overnight closures, as only emergency vehicles will be permitted to pass through the construction zone.
These closures are part of ongoing efforts by King County to build the new facility, located just north of the existing Algona Transfer Station.
King County officials have warned that there will be intermittent travel delays, lane closures, and full closures throughout the summer and early fall as construction continues.
Residents and commuters are encouraged to stay informed by signing up for email notifications on future closures via the King County website.
