A Lea Hill homeowner had contacted police Monday to perform a welfare check after not hearing from one of their tenants for several days.  Officers performing the welfare check discovered the body of a 26-year-old female.  A death investigation was prompted due to the nature the body was found.

Auburn Police Commander Steve Stocker shared that the decedent rented a basement room in the house she was found.  “The homeowner called after not hearing from her for several days.  According to the homeowner, the woman had been depressed lately.”

The homeowner provided officers with a key to the woman’s bedroom, having not entered previously out of respect for their tenant’s privacy.

Based on the findings at the scene, Stocker stated that “she had probably been deceased for a few days, and this appears to be a suicide.  There was no evidence or word that anyone would want to harm this woman, or evidence of domestic violence.”  Stocker also confirmed a suicide note was found at the scene.

The King County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the manner of death has been determined to be suicide.

Out of respect for the deceased, and her family, we will not be including her name or the cause of death.
