Two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, and two months after the end of the Civil War, African Americans living in bondage in Texas were finally freed on June 19, 1865. That day of freedom became known as “Juneteenth” or Africa American Independence Day. Councilmember Larry Gossett led the Council in proclaiming June 19 as Juneteenth in King County.

- And Joshua Wallace to the King County Mental Illness and Drug Dependency (MIDD) Advisory Committee.
