A hazardous materials spill involving a truck carrying barrels of resin blocked multiple lanes of southbound SR 167 near the SR 18 interchange in Auburn on Monday, April 7, 2025, prompting a large emergency response and traffic delays.

According to social media posts, the incident happened around 10:55 a.m. Monday.

Officials said the truck was hauling multiple drums of hazardous material, and at least one barrel was confirmed to be leaking.

The leak, while contained to the immediate incident scene, posed a flammability risk, particularly as crews began working to access the truck’s interior and stabilize the situation.

A hazmat team responded to the scene and worked through the afternoon to develop a plan to safely control the leak, which was not immediately accessible due to the truck’s configuration.

“There is no public exposure or evacuation need at this time,” officials said in an update. “The primary threat remains the flammability risk in the direct vicinity of the truck.”

Drivers were urged to expect significant delays, as lane closures continued while crews conducted their operations.

Further details, including the cause of the incident and any potential citations, were not immediately available.
