Auburn Police seize guns, arrest teen in SWAT-assisted raid

Detectives from the Auburn Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), with assistance from Valley SWAT, executed a search and arrest warrant in the southern part of the city this week, leading to the arrest of an 18-year-old suspect.

The suspect, a convicted felon legally barred from possessing firearms, was taken into custody without incident.

During the operation, officers recovered several firearms from the suspect’s residence and one from a vehicle in which he had been a passenger.

Police said that two of the three firearms were equipped with high-capacity magazines.

Investigators believe the suspect has been involved in multiple violent crimes in the area over the past eight to 10 months.

He has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

Auburn Police commended the collaborative effort of the SIU detectives and Valley SWAT team for the successful operation.

“Great work by our SIU Detectives and Valley SWAT!” police said in a statement.
