On Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, just after 3:30 p.m., the Valley SWAT team assisted the Auburn Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) in arresting a prolific burglary suspect (Male, 28) in Auburn.
The suspect – who at one point intentionally rammed an Auburn PD K9 vehicle – was believed to be armed with multiple firearms.
Here’s more from Auburn P.D.:
“When the SWAT team arrived in the area of the suspect’s location, the suspect attempted to flee the area as a passenger in an SUV with three other people. In an attempt to avoid one of the SWAT armored vehicles, the suspect’s vehicle entered a parking lot and intentionally struck an APD K9 Vehicle.
“The officer driving the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further examination. The Officer’s K9 partner, Apollo, was not injured.
“The impact of the collision was so severe that multiple airbags on the officer’s vehicle were deployed and the ear protection on the SWAT helmet worn by the officer broke.
“The burglary suspect appeared to have suffered a fracture to his leg because of the collision and was taken into custody.
“At the time of arrest, the burglary suspect had 8 felony cases charged by the King County Prosecutors Office, 12 felony cases referred to the King County Prosecutor for charging, and was a suspect in about 20 additional felony cases in the region.
“Additionally, the suspect was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest, and several other firearms were recovered from his residence.
“The driver of the vehicle (Male, 31) was also taken into custody for striking an APD vehicle and was arrested for Felony Assault. Both suspects were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
“A job well done by Valley SWAT and our SIU team.”
