The King County Council on Wednesday approved the 2019 WaterWorks grants for water quality improvement projects across King County. County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer secured $200,000 in funds for South King County projects.

“I am excited about the projects these grants will help fund in South King County,” von Reichbauer said. “It is critical that we continue to invest in projects that keep our water and habitat clean to ensure our region continues to be an excellent place to live.”

The $200,000 in funding will go to three projects in South King County:

  • $50,000 to the Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group for habitat restoration on the Lower Green River.
  • $75,000 to Futurewise for the Algona Wetland Education and Enhancement Project.
  • $75,000 to the City of Pacific for sewer system smoke tests and video inspection.

King County’s WaterWorks Grant Program provides funding for projects that improve water quality in the service area for King County’s regional wastewater system. The grant program complements the water quality mission of the Wastewater Treatment Division.
