Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from Oct. 21–Oct. 27, 2024:
- Injury Accident: (Auburn) On Monday, October 21st at 3:52 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a two-vehicle accident with injuries. Upon arrival, they found one vehicle off the roadway with moderate damage and another further down the freeway, also damaged. Firefighters evaluated three patients with minor injuries. All three were transported to St. Francis Hospital by private ambulance for further care.
- Passenger Vehicle Fire: (Lakeland Hills) On Tuesday, October 22nd at 7:58 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on Lake Tapps Parkway. The first arriving crew found a fully involved, unoccupied car. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle, however, was deemed a total loss.
- Animal Rescue: (Lakeland Hills) On Wednesday, October 23rd, at 9:01 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a report of a dog hanging from a second-story apartment balcony. When crews arrived, they found the dog partially stuck between the metal railings, hanging by its hind legs. Firefighters quickly set up a ladder to reach the dog, with one firefighter supporting its head while another carefully cut through the railing with a tool. Once freed, the dog was safely brought down the ladder. Apart from minor injuries to its paws, the dog was mostly unharmed and gratefully greeted the rescuers with tail wags and kisses.
- Minor Fire: (Auburn) On Thursday, October 24th at 4:30 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a report of a fire in a freezer at a local restaurant. A quick-acting employee had already used a dry chemical extinguisher to put out the fire before firefighters arrived. Crews confirmed the fire was fully extinguished and used electric fans to ventilate the area. No injuries were reported.
- Minor Fire: (Auburn) On Friday, October 25th at 6:55 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a minor fire inside an apartment. Upon arrival, they found the apartment filled with smoke due to food burning on the stove. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and ventilated the apartment to clear the smoke. No injuries were reported.
- Kitchen Fire: (Pacific) On Saturday, October 26th, at 2:30 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a reported stove fire in an apartment building. Upon arrival, the fire had already been extinguished and had not extended into the structure. Firefighters ventilated the apartment to clear the smoke and educated the residents on the importance of working smoke alarms. No injuries were reported.
- Aid Call: (Auburn) On Sunday, October 27th at 12:40 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult male experiencing altered mental status. Firefighters evaluated the patient on scene, and he was transported to a local hospital by private ambulance for further care.
