VRFA Blotter: Uncontrollable nosebleed, gas leak, excavator over leg, fire, shooting near bar & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from Jan. 19–Jan. 25, 2026:

  • Aid Call (Auburn): On Monday, January 19th at 12:34 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult male at an adult family home experiencing an uncontrollable nosebleed. Firefighters evaluated and treated the patient on scene before he was transported by private ambulance to a local hospital for further care.
  • Natural Gas Leak (Algona): On Tuesday, January 20th at 12:40 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a natural gas main break caused by construction activity. Firefighters secured the area, advised nearby residents to shelter in place, and monitored air quality while assisting Puget Sound Energy in controlling the leak. PSE remained on scene throughout the day to complete repairs to the gas line.
  • Heavy Equipment Accident (Auburn): On Wednesday, January 22nd, VRFA firefighters responded to reports of a road construction worker whose lower leg had been run over by an excavator. Firefighters arrived to find one patient with serious but stable injuries. After evaluation by King County Medic One paramedics, the patient was transported by a VRFA aid unit to Valley Medical Center for further treatment.
  • Motor Vehicle Accident (Auburn): On Thursday, January 22nd, VRFA firefighters responded to a two-vehicle collision with moderate damage and two injured patients. Firefighters evaluated and treated both patients on scene before they were transported by private ambulance to a local hospital for further care.
  • Residential Fire (Auburn): On Friday, January 23rd at 3:43 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to reports of a possible residential fire. Crews arrived to find light smoke coming from the roof vents and heavy fire visible in the kitchen through a window. Firefighters entered the home with a handline and quickly extinguished the fire, then ventilated the structure and completed primary and secondary searches of both floors. A unit remained on scene to assist the fire investigator until the investigation was complete.
  • Shooting (Auburn): On Sunday, January 25th at 1:33 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult male injured in a shooting near a downtown bar. Auburn Police arrived first, secured the scene, and began providing care. Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics treated the patient on scene before he was transported by paramedics to Harborview Medical Center for further care.
  • Aid Call (Auburn): On Sunday, January 25th at 5:23 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult female experiencing breathing difficulty after accidentally inhaling fumes from mixed cleaning supplies. Firefighters evaluated the patient on scene before she was transported by private ambulance to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
