VRFA Blotter: Fatal car accident, river rescue, fires & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from June 30–July 5, 2025:

  • Commercial Fire: (Unincorporated King County) On Monday, June 30th at 12:10 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded with South King Fire & Rescue units to a church fire. Crews arrived to find the building well involved with flames. Firefighters deployed hose lines and used master streams from multiple ladder trucks to bring the fire under control. The cause is under investigation.
  • Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident: (Auburn) On Monday, June 30, 2025, at 12:22 p.m., VRFA firefighters and King County Medic One responded to a two-car collision with reports of an occupant being ejected. On scene, firefighters found one driver who had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. The other driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by a VRFA aid unit.
  • River Rescue: (Enumclaw) On Tuesday, July 1st at 2:00 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded with Zone 3 Swiftwater rescue crews to the Green River for a report of two people stranded after losing their kayak. The individuals were located uninjured and safely escorted to a takeout point downstream without further incident.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., VRFA firefighters were flagged down by a citizen and found an adult female experiencing a significant medical emergency. Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics treated the patient on scene before she was transported to Harborview Medical Center for further care.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Thursday, July 3rd, at 10:35 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a single-scooter accident at Lea Hill Road and 104th Avenue SE. The adult male rider struck a rock and was thrown from his electric scooter, sustaining a broken wrist. He was treated on scene by A331 and transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further evaluation.
  • Motor Vehicle Accident: (Auburn) On Friday, July 4th at 5:18 p.m., VRFA firefighters and King County Medic One responded to a two-vehicle head-on collision. Firefighters arrived to find three patients requiring medical attention. One patient was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, while two others were transported by private ambulance to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.
  • Brush Fire: (Auburn) On Saturday, July 5th at 3:20 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a 100′ x 50′ brush fire near the onramp to eastbound Highway 18 from West Valley Highway. The fire was actively spreading through light, flashy fuels near a wetland. Crews quickly stopped the forward progression and established a containment line around the fire.
  • Grass Fire: (Auburn) On Saturday, July 5th, at 8:01 p.m., VRFA firefighters, along with Mountain View Fire & Rescue, responded to a grass fire on a vacant lot in a neighborhood. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and established a wet line to prevent further spread. No property damage occurred.
