Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) voted Wednesday for HR 1, the For the People Act, which passed the House. The For the People Act is an anti-corruption bill that will protect and expand voting rights and restore integrity in government.
“I was happy to vote to pass H.R.1 today. The For The People Act will end the dominance of big money and

special interests in politics and elevate the voices and priorities of every day Americans,” said Rep. Schrier. “This package will make it easier to vote and puts the government back in the hands of the American people, where it has always belonged. The people of the 8th district have made it clear that we want government to work for us. Today we took a big step towards that goal.”
Key provisions of H.R. 1, the For the People Act, include:
- Expanding automatic voter registration and same day registration
- Strengthening vote by mail, like what we have in Washington State
- Protecting elections from foreign interference
- Enforcing ethics and conflict of interest rules for all government officials
