A small aircraft made an emergency landing at a construction site in Auburn on Saturday, April 18 after experiencing engine trouble midflight, according to the Auburn Police Department.
Police said the aircraft had departed from California and encountered mechanical issues while en route. The pilot initially attempted to land in Renton but decided it would be safer to divert to Auburn.
While approaching the area, the plane lost its second engine, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing in a field at a General Services Administration construction site, according to police.
The female pilot successfully landed the aircraft but sustained non life threatening injuries and was transported for medical evaluation. A male passenger on board was not injured.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and secured the scene.
The incident remains under investigation, police said.
