Auburn’s Mexican Independence Day Festival – Día de Independencia – was held Sunday night, Sept. 10, 2023 at Les Gove Park, and it was a vibrant celebration of Mexican culture and heritage.
Attendees were treated to a lively evening filled with music, dance, and delicious food.
The event provided a unique opportunity for the community to come together and commemorate this significant day in Mexican history.
The festival showcased a variety of traditional Mexican performances, including colorful folk dances and energetic musical acts. Attendees were captivated by the vibrant costumes and rhythmic movements that brought the rich cultural traditions to life. The event also featured a wide array of authentic Mexican cuisine, allowing visitors to indulge in the flavors and aromas of Mexico.
“The dancing horses show was a particular crowd favorite (and the free Xboxes too),” the City of Auburn said.
There was also a civic ceremony where the Consul General of Mexico, Héctor Godoy, delivered the traditional “Grito” of Independence.
