Due to the current “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order, and social distancing recommendations, the City of Auburn has cancelled or postponed the following Spring clean-up events:
2020 Bulky Item Collection Event
Originally scheduled for the end of April, the City of Auburn’s annual Bulky Item Collection has been postponed. This is a once-a-year opportunity to get rid of your bulky items that are non-hazardous, non-liquid, and non-reusable. The new dates for the Bulky Item Collection days have not yet been announced.
2020 Spring Residential Recycling Event
The residential recycling event held at Ilalko Elementary School has been postponed. A new date has not yet been announced.
2020 Community Yard Sale
The City will not be sponsoring a community yard sale in 2020. Once the state’s stay home order is lifted and social distancing recommendations are lifted, residents are encouraged to have their own sale.
Visiting a Transfer Station during COVID-19:
Currently, King County Transfer Stations require proof of residency for all individuals utilizing the transfer station. Means of verifying residence include government-issued ID, vehicle registration, utility bill, or rental agreement.
The King County Solid Waste Division urges customers to postpone non-essential trips to King County recycling and garbage facilities while the “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order is in place. Self-haul customers making essential visits should expect lines and possible service delays up to two hours.
Should you visit a transfer station, customers are asked to:
- Pay with a card rather than cash
- Stay in their vehicle while waiting at the scales
- Stay at least six feet from other customers and employees
