VRFA Blotter: Hedge trimmer amputation, tree fire, vehicle vs motorcycle, brawl & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from April 22–28, 2024:

  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Monday, April 22nd at 12:20 p.m., VRFA firefighters and King County Medic One Paramedics responded to a juvenile male reporting a rapid heart rate. Upon assessment, firefighters noted the patient’s heart rate to be significantly elevated. The patient received immediate treatment on scene from both firefighters and paramedics before being transported to a nearby hospital for further definitive care.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Tuesday, April 23rd at 11:54 a.m., VRFA firefighters assisted a male who had accidentally amputated the tip of his finger with a hedge trimmer. Upon arrival, firefighters provided initial care, bandaging the wound to control bleeding. The crew located the severed fingertip and ensured it accompanied the patient to the hospital for possible reattachment. The patient was safely transported to a local hospital by private ambulance for further medical attention.
  • Brush Fire: (Auburn) On Wednesday, April 24th at 9:34 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to reports of a potential tree fire dangerously close to a nearby business. Upon arrival, firefighters attacked a 10’x15′ brush fire engulfing thick grass and blackberry brush. They established a containment scratch line around the fire, halting its forward momentum and preventing any damage to nearby businesses.
  • Motor Vehicle Accident: (Auburn) On Thursday, April 25th at 11:00 a.m., VRFA Ladder 331 and Aid 331 responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a collision with a power pole. Firefighters assessed the driver and provided necessary medical attention before transporting them to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
  • Motor Vehicle Collision: (Auburn) On Friday, April 26th at 2:00 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a car. Upon arrival, firefighters found the motorcyclist on the roadway. They assessed the patient’s condition and provided necessary medical aid. The patient was transported to a local hospital by private ambulance for further medical attention.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Saturday, April 27th at 12:30 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to reports of a large brawl in progress. Upon arrival, firefighters assessed and provided treatment to two adult females and one juvenile male involved in the altercation. One of the adult patients required further evaluation and care and was transported to Valley Medical Center.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Sunday, April 28th at 4:37 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to assist a male in his mid-40s who had fallen and suffered a head injury. Despite minor injuries and symptoms, firefighters stabilized the patient before he was transported by private ambulance to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further evaluation.
