VRFA Blotter: Elevator rescue, man falls from ladder, fires, accidents & more

Here are 911 Calls for Service responded to by the Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) from Dec. 9–Dec. 15, 2024:

  • Aid Call: (Lakeland Hills) On Monday, December 9th, at 11:54 a.m., VRFA firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics responded to an elderly male found unconscious at an intersection. Firefighters treated the patient, who then received further evaluation from paramedics before being transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center ER by private ambulance.
  • Automatic Fire Alarm: (Lakeland Hills) On Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, at 8:14 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an automatic fire alarm reported by a resident due to a smoke detector malfunction. Firefighters investigated and identified an electrical issue causing the detectors to activate. The homeowner was advised that the smoke detectors were well past their expiration date and that replacing them would likely resolve the issue.
  • Motor Vehicle Accident: (Auburn) On Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, at 7:15 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident near Muckleshoot Casino. An adult female complained of neck and back pain as a result of the incident. She was treated on scene and transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
  • Electrical Fire: (Lakeland Hills) On Thursday, December 12th, 2024, at 9:41 a.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a reported chimney fire. Upon arrival, firefighters identified an odor indicative of an electrical fire and quickly ruled out a chimney fire. The source of the odor was determined to be the dishwasher. Firefighters removed the dishwasher from the house and ensured the fire was fully extinguished. The damage was confined to the dishwasher.
  • Aid Call: (Auburn) On Friday, December 13th, 2024, at 12:35 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to an adult male who suffered an accidental laceration to his hand while attempting to open a box. Firefighters evaluated and treated the patient on scene before he was transported to a local hospital by private ambulance for further care.
  • Injuries from a Fall: (Pacific) On Saturday, December 14th, 2024, at 4:04 p.m., VRFA firefighters responded to a request for aid. They arrived to find a man on the ground in his backyard who had fallen approximately 24 feet from a ladder while cutting branches from a damaged tree. Firefighters evaluated and treated the man before he was transported by private ambulance to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
  • Elevator Rescue: (Auburn) On Sunday, December 15th, 2024, at 2:37 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a person trapped in an elevator. Upon arrival, they found one person and a dog stuck between the first and second floors. Following elevator malfunction procedures, firefighters safely opened the elevator doors and assisted the individual and their dog out. An elevator technician arrived shortly after to address the issue and perform any necessary repairs.
