Kent Police made an arrest in the car-jacking case that led to the death of 38-year-old Jered Sperling. The suspect has been identified as a 23-year-old Kent resident. Investigators are not releasing his name as he has not been formally charged yet.
Kent investigators also identified the other person of interest; he is cooperating
with this investigation and it has been determined that he is not a suspect in this case.
“We want to thank every person who called in tips,” said Detective Robinson. “This is a very tragic case that has rocked everyone to the core. Our deepest condolences remain with the family and friends of Jered Sperling.”
Cooperative Witness
Kent Police identified and released a person of interest in the car-jacking investigation.
We are releasing the name of the cooperating witness; Troy Vasquez, initially thought to be a person of interest in this case.
Through investigation, it was determined that he was not involved in the car-jacking incident.
