A recall has been issued for Whole Foods Market Red Lentil Dal. The recall is due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination of one of the ingredients.
The recalled product is “Whole Foods Market Red Lentil Dal Packaged in 12 oz. plastic trays.” The product recall comes from Bakkavor (NC); who issued the recall due to the Pickled Curry Cauliflower’s potential contamination.

Associated Illnesses
As of April 21, there have been no reports of illness due to consumption of the recalled products.
According to the CDC website, Listeria monocytogenes causes Listeriosis, a serious infection. Pregnant women, newborns, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are primarily affected. Listeria infections are typically mild, but some become severe, causing sepsis, meningitis, or encephalitis.
“Symptoms in people with invasive listeriosis, meaning the bacteria has spread beyond the gut, depend on whether the person is pregnant,” says the CDC website. Learn more

Customers are encouraged not to eat the recalled product. Consumers with additional questions can call 1-844-936-8255 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, or 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Saturday through Sunday.
