A 32-year-old man has died after an early morning shooting Friday, according to the Auburn Police Department.
Police, Valley Regional Fire Authority, and King County Medic One units were dispatched just after 2:20 a.m. to the 2600 Block of D St SE, near Sierra Meadows Apartments.
When officers arrived on the scene a citizen was performing CPR on the victim. Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Auburn Police Commander Mike Hirman did not provide additional details about the victim or what may have lead up to the shooting.
Refuting claims made on social media that the he was wearing a kevlar vest, the citizen who provided CPR on the victim stated “I was on his chest pumping his heart, he did not have a vest on and I refuse to allow anyone to lie about this . Period.” She continued in another comment, “he had on jeans, hoodie, and hat a shirt (sic) under the hoodie! If he had a vest sir he wouldn’t have been hit where he was!!”
Investigators have identified a person of interest in the case. Further details on this individual have not yet been shared.
This is an evolving story, the Auburn Examiner will update when we learn more.

Crime is increasing in North Auburn. Many of the perps hang out at either the Korean-owned smoke shop at 22nd and Auburn Way North, or the 7-11 next door. They are becoming bolder all the time. They often come out after dark and start prowling cars in the neighborhood, or seek out victims to rob. In my little corner of town nearby, neighbors have begun a Block Watch group consisting of Russians, Ukranian familes, and the local Samoans. I’m just the white guy who helped organize them, after three incidents in the parking lot where I live having to chase off the thieves and junkies at night. It’s time to bring down the hammer on crime in Auburn, and assure citizens it will not be tolerated. Just so you’ll understand where I’m coming from, I’ve lived here since 1967 and grew up on a small farm near Sumner.
What about the shooting death yesterday (9/25/20) at cedar Ridge apartment complex?
We are waiting for a response from APD.
