Former Auburn Mayor Chuck Booth Dies

“Former Mayor Chuck Booth, who served with grace, class, dignity, a penny-pinching heart and a compassion for those in need sadly passed away on Saturday, August 3rd at roughly 12:30 in the afternoon surrounded by his family,”  shared Mayor Nancy Backus at Monday evening’s City Council Meeting.  He was 85-years-old.  Mayor Booth is survived by his wife Leila and a son and daughter.  He is preceded in death by a second daughter.

Mayor Booth served Auburn for terms from January 1, 1994, to December 31, 2000.  Before his tenure as Mayor, he served the Auburn School District in several roles.  First as Director of Pupil Personnel (1970-76), then Assistant Superintendent of Personnel & Employee Relations (1976-77) and finally as Deputy Superintendent (1977-1993).  Mayor Booth retired from ASD in 1993.

Details of a memorial service have not yet been disclosed.  We will update when they become available.
