The President of the United States has issued a proclamation for the U.S.flag to be flown at half-staff Friday, May 15, 2020, in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day. Flags should remain at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.
A reported 146 officers died in the line of duty in 2019. The nonprofit Blue Help has verified 225 law enforcement officer suicides in the year 2019.
The 2020 National Police Week has been canceled due to COVID-19. The National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum will be holding a virtual candlelight vigil and reading of the names. The vigil will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at 8:00 p.m. EST. To watch, go to https://nleomf.org/

Update May 12, 2020, 2:55pm: Auburn Mayor, Nancy Backus, has made an official proclamation declaring the week of May 10-16, 2020 “National Police Week” and May 15, 2020 “National Peace Officers Day,” in the City of Auburn.
