Explosion on Lea Hill Flattens RV

Two women are severely injured after an RV exploded this morning on Lea Hill in Auburn. Rescue units were dispatched to an explosion on Lea Hill at 9:50 am to the 13300 Block of SE 297th St.

Crews from Valley Regional Fire Authority arrived on scene to find the RV flattened, with debris scattered across the property and into the neighboring yard. Several windows of the home, 50ft away, blew out in the blast. Fire crews were able to swiftly extinguish the fire.

King County Medic One paramedics treated the two women, both in their 40’s, from the RV. The women were both transferred to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Fire Investigator has determined the cause of the explosion to accidental, related to heating/electrical equipment.

The explosion was powerful enough to shake area homes on Lea Hill.
