Crews from Valley Regional Fire Authority Station 32 responded to a collision on Auburn Way S just after noon Friday. According to a statement from Auburn Police, “a vehicle occupied by an elderly couple was heading eastbound on Auburn Way S, making a left turn onto Dogwood ST SE. A truck was westbound and collided with the vehicle as it was turning.”

The passenger of the vehicle, Allan Lindstrom (89) sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

As a precaution, the driver of the truck was also transported to the local hospital.

“Drugs and Alcohol were not involved. At this point, speed doesn’t appear to be a factor either,” said Auburn Police Commander Dan O’Neil.

The Auburn Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate.
