The number of recent fires throughout Auburn has some residents concerned that an arsonist may be to blame. However, Valley Regional Fire Authority Fire Investigators confirm that they are not seeing a pattern or anything else that would indicate these fires are related.
“Sometimes we go through periods where we have many fires as we have recently and sometimes we go through periods where we go weeks or months without any,” said VRFA Public Information & Education Officer Kelly Hawks.
Two recent fires have been confirmed to be the cause of arson. A garage lit on fire by a known homeless woman, and a couch set on fire behind the Auburn Valley Humane Society Thrift Store on M St NE.
The exact cause of several of the recent fires, such as the Meadowbrook Apartments and M St SE house fire, is still under investigation.
