Auburn 2021 Elections

City of Auburn voters will have six races on their ballot that are specific to Auburn. Four are for the city, two are for the Auburn School District. Three of the races are uncontested.

Uncontested races and races with only two candidates go straight to the general election. As only one of the six races has more than two candidates running, that race will be the only Auburn-specific race on the primary ballot in August.

The City of Auburn runs under a Mayor/City Council plan. RCW 35A.12 explains the manner in which the authority and duties of this format of governs are split between the Mayor and Council.

Note: Prior to the founding of the Auburn Examiner, Founder and Editor Elizabeth Miller endorsed Nancy Backus in the 2017 election. Because of this all Backus campaign coverage reporting and editing will be done by other members of the AE Team. This measure is being done in an effort to remove any question of unfairness or impartiality and help ensure our reader’s confidence in our fair and unbiased election coverage.  The Auburn Examiner does not endorse candidates and a candidate running unopposed will not change our coverage.
