An Auburn officer initiated a police pursuit of a stolen 2017 Rav4 around 10:30am this morning. The pursuit began near 6th St SE and Auburn Way South. The stolen vehicle had two occupants inside. As the pursuit began the female driver rammed an Auburn police vehicle head-on.
Officers continued to pursue the stolen vehicle south on Auburn Way South toward Muckleshoot Casino. According to APD Commander Mike Hirman, the pursuit was terminated when speeds reached 60-80mph. APD notified King County Sherrif’s Office, requesting assistance in the search and apprehension of the suspect vehicle.
The stolen vehicle continued on Auburn Way S toward Enumclaw, but turned back near 3300 Auburn Way S. Shortly after turning around the suspects lost control of the vehicle, crashed striking a retaining wall.
“The two suspects were taken into custody. [There are] unknown minor injuries to the female driver. We are going to have the officer driving the vehicle from the head-on [crash] checked out as a precaution,” said Hirman.
Hirman confirmed at least one other police car sustained damaged from the suspects intentionally hitting it. Another civilian car was hit by suspect near the Auburn Adventist Academy. A firearm was located in the stolen vehicle.
Expected charges for the driver, Linda Jimmy, are the possession of a stolen vehicle, attempt to elude and assault in the first degree. The passenger, Tremaine Daigneault, is expected to at least be charged with theft of a motor vehicle. Both suspects also had warrants for misdemeanors.
