We’ve put together a profile for some of the team members to help you get an idea of who they are, and about the importance of this event.

Name: Gary Barker
Station: 31
How many times have you climbed?: 20.  21 on March 8th
Best time for the climb: 15:24mins
What is the hardest part of the climb? The last 5 floors
Why do you climb: I started my commitment to the climb when my friend got sick with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in late 1999.  He died of cancer in March of 2001.  I have continued to climb to help find a cure, to be involved in such a great fundraising event that helps others, to be a representative of firefighters, to remind me of the importance of good health and fitness, and to do something with my co-workers outside of our normal job.  I look forward to it every year.

The VRFA Team will be fundraising at Fred Meyers this coming Sunday, March 1st from 11:30-2pm.  If you can not make it out, you can donate online to the team (click here).
