Multiple sources have shared, and it has been confirmed with a city employee who spoke on the condition of anonymity, that over the past several weeks Deputy
Mayor Largo Wales has turned in her city issued electronic devices (i.e. tablet, cell phone) and her city issued credit card. No reason for the returns were given.
It has also been noted that since Deputy Mayor Wales’ election loss to incumbent Mayor Nancy Backus on November 7th, she has been noticeably absent from city functions such as the Veteran’s Day Parade and the Santa Parade & Tree Lighting.
The City Council will decide on the next Deputy Mayor during the January 2, 2018 study session. Sources indicate that Deputy Mayor Wales isn’t even a consideration.
Is this withdrawal from the city foreshadowing of a more official disconnection, or is the Deputy Mayor simply okay with the prospect of having her personal devices open to public records requests?
