Auburn School Board Recognizes Outstanding Student
The Auburn School District Board of Directors recognized Jordyn Schoenbachler, a fifth grade student at Chinook Elementary, for being an outstanding student at the October 14 board meeting.
Her current and previous teachers characterize her as compassionate, kind, responsible, positive and a caring friend.
Teacher Terry Thibodeaux said, “Jordyn is a wonderful student. I am constantly impressed with her leadership skills as she sets a nice example of what it means to be a successful learner.”
Schoenbachler’s favorite subject is math. After graduating from high school, she plans to play basketball and attend college.
Auburn School Board Recognizes Outstanding Staff Member
The Auburn School District Board of Directors recognized Kym Hales, a teacher at Auburn High School, for being an outstanding staff member.
Hales has worked in the district for 15 years. She spent her first seven years as a para-educator. While working as a para-educator, she earned her master’s in education with a special education emphasis from City University.
Colleague Mary Meeker-Clark said, “Kym continues to make a difference for everyone at Auburn High. She ensures success for each of her students. Her kindness is infectious.”
In her spare time, Hales enjoys spending time with her family, thrift store shopping, home improvement projects and traveling. She is an Oakland Raiders fan and will be at their last game in the Oakland Coliseum before they move to Vegas in 2020.
