The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to numerous calls for service for the week of August 23-30, 2021 and we remain grateful for their service.

VRFA Calls for Service
- Aid Call: (Auburn) On Monday, August 23 at 5:03 p.m., firefighters responded to a Covid positive
adult male with a low blood pressure. Firefighters and King County paramedics examined the
patient. He was transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by a private ambulance. - Vehicle Fire: (Auburn) On Monday, August 23 at 7:29 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of a
vehicle and a mobile home on fire in a scrapyard. Firefighters arrived to find a 12-foot box truck
with fire from the roof of the box. Firefighters gained access through the entry gate and extinguished
the fire. The cause of the fire was undetermined. - Motor Vehicle Accident: (Auburn) On Tuesday, August 24 at 12:45 p.m., firefighters responded to
a two vehicle MVA. There were four patients; three with minor injuries, one was transported to
Harborview Medical Center by King County Medic One. - Brush Fire: (Auburn) On Wednesday, August 25 at 8:20 a.m., firefighters responded to a brushfire
near a power pole. On location, firefighters found a 20’X20’ grass fire and extinguished with a
booster line. Cause was determined to be from an unlucky squirrel found in the burned area. - CPR: (North Auburn) On Thursday, August 26 at 6:33 p.m., firefighters responded to an adult
female that had overdosed. Firefighters and paramedics resuscitated patient. Paramedics to
MultiCare Auburn Medical Center transported her. - Aid Call: (Algona) On Friday, August 27 at 5:55 p.m., firefighters responded to a middle-aged
man with a foot injury. The patient had been cutting wood with an axe, but missed and caught his
foot with the blade. He was treated at the scene by firefighters and then driven to MultiCare
Auburn Medical Center in a private vehicle. (omg omg omg. This is why I don’t chop wood). - Aid Call: (Auburn) On Saturday, August 28 at 5:56 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of an
allergic reaction. Firefighters arrived and found a middle-aged female who had received a
vaccination at a pharmacy was experiencing a decreased level of consciousness and lethargy. The
patient was evaluated by firefighters at the scene and then transported by private ambulance to
MultiCare Auburn Medical Center. - Vehicle Accident: (Auburn) On Friday, August 29 at 4:03 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car
rear-end accident. Two patients were examined by firefighters. King County Medics transported
one patient to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.

The Community Assistance, Referrals, and Education Services (CARES) is a joint program between VRFA, King County Emergency Medical Services division South King Fire & Rescue, Enumclaw, and Mountainview Fire and Rescue departments. Each CARES response vehicle is staffed 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. by one firefighter from each department and a social worker. The CARES unit is sent on less emergent calls in non-transport capable vehicles to provide basic patient evaluation, assistance, specific basic life support treatment on scene, and arrange for transport if medically necessary. CARES also referred patients to community services where needed.
