Detectives with the King County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Response and Reconstruction (MARR) unit seek the community’s help to identify any persons responsible for Sunday’s (7/18) fatal hit and run collision near the 23800 blk. of SE 216th St. This is an area of unincorporated King County near Maple Valley.

King County deputies responded to this location around 10:55 AM Sunday after a 53-year-old man was found deceased near the roadside. He was an avid runner and is believed to have been struck as he neared the end of a 15-mile Sunday run.  A preliminary investigation indicates he was likely hit by a vehicle that fled the scene leaving little evidence behind.  This is a tragic case that cost a Maple Valley family their beloved husband, father, and son.
