As demolition begins on the charred remains of the top floor of the historic Heritage Building, the city
In the days after the fire the citizens of Auburn have not let up in their determination to see the displaced residents of the Heritage Apartments cared for. Donations of all kind continue to flow into the Auburn Food Bank, and the Food Bank staff stepped up to meet the need of assisting in collecting these donations without a second thought.
Many businesses impacted by the fire, such as Hidden Entity Tattoo & Piercing have reassured customers that they will be back, showing resilience in the face of such devastation.
There will no doubt be confusion regarding which businesses have been impacted by the fire. This, and the closure of E Main Street to vehicle traffic, is certain to cause businesses in close proximity to the Heritage Building to suffer financial loss. Citizens are urged to consider patronizing these businesses to help lessen the peripheral damage caused by the fire.
Though E Main Street is closed to vehicle traffic, it is not closed to foot traffic. The businesses within immediate vicinity to the Heritage Building that remain open can be reached by parking in the Safeway parking lot, or via street parking.
