Harrison Maurus will be competing in the 2019 Pan American Games.  Named to the 2019 Pan American Games USA Weightlifting Team in May, Maurus is one of only four men competing on USA Weightlifting Team.

Maurus is amongst talented and experienced teammates.  “All 10 athletes have previously represented Team USA in international competition holds several world records,” stated a Team USA press release. These competitions include “the 2018 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan and the 2019 Pan American Championships in Guatemala City, Guatemala – and represent dozens of Pan American and American records between them. Team USA is looking to build on its international success in Lima after both men’s and women’s teams won the Pan American Championships in April.”

Though he holds several world and American records, Maurus may be most known for breaking the 20-year drought for Team USA at the 2017 IWF Weightlifting World Championships by earning two bronze medals.

In a post on his official Instagram, Maurus shared his thoughts before the games this weekend, “Proud to be representing the USA out here in Lima, Peru for the Pan American Games! Did my last heavy day today and put together a 150 snatch and a 190 clean and jerk. Feeling ready to compete this Sunday!”
