Two men robbed the  ARCO gas station on 15th Street NW in the early morning hours, Saturday, April 27th.  Two men entered the gas station and attempted to purchase beer.  After being denied the sale due to the time, the first suspect pulled out a gun and took the beer, explained Auburn Police Department Public Information Officer Commander Steve Stocker explained.   No one was injured during the incident.

A request for public assistance was issued by investigators on April 30th.  Stills from surveillance footage of both suspects and their vehicle were provided to the public to assist in identifying and locating the two men.

“A suspect was identified, along with the vehicle involved,” said Stocker.  “On May 4th officers were then able to locate the vehicle and positively identify the driver as the person who robbed the store at gunpoint.”

The suspect confessed to his involvement in the robbery post-arrest.  After his arrest, he was transported to and booked in SCORE jail.

The second suspect in the incident was also identified and located by investigators.   “Based on the video of the incident and the second suspect’s statement he was not arrested,” explained Stocker.  “He did not know the other person was going to pull a gun out and he actually ended up leaving money on the counter for the beer that [was taken].”

Stocker confirmed that the firearm used during the incident was also recovered.  “[It] happened to be in the car the suspect was arrested out of,” said Stocker.
