ASD Board Of Directors Selects February’s Outstanding Staff Member And Student

The Auburn School District Board of Directors will recognize Svetlana Marar, custodian at Lea Hill Elementary, as the outstanding staff member of the month at Monday’s board meeting.  Fatoumata Fadiga, a fifth-grade student at Terminal Park Elementary, will be recognized as the outstanding student of the month.

Marar has worked for the Auburn School District for 10 years. She began as a substitute custodian, worked at Rainier and Cascade and has been at Lea Hill for five years.

Lea Hill teacher Gina Cardenas said, “Svetlana is such an amazing addition to our school and brightens everyone’s day.”

Marar moved to Auburn from Ukraine 15 years ago. Her husband of 20 years, Veniamin, also works for the ASD.  They have two daughters, one a senior at Auburn High and a 5th grader at Lake View.

Fadiga has attended Terminal Park since kindergarten and is a true leader. She is the ASB president and participates in elementary orchestra.

Principal Mike Weibel said, “We are so lucky to have such an outstanding young lady at our school.”
