Bloodworks Northwest is partnering with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (625 M St NE)
to host the first Pop-Up Donor Center in Auburn. This location will provide Auburn area donors a convenient place to donate blood. The Auburn Pop-Up Donor Center will be hosted September 21 and 22 in the church gym.

Donating blood remains a critical and safe activity for community health. “There is a lot that is unknown as we head into Fall, but there’s one thing that we can do to help one another get through this – give blood,” said  Alli Miller, Donor Resources Representative. bloodworks northwest, blood donation, blood supply critical, blood donation location, bloodworks nw

Almost a quarter of Bloodworks Northwest’s donations during the school year come from High schools and colleges. With most schools turning to distance learning due to Covid-19, there is uncertainty surrounding school hosted drives happening this year. “We are working hard to ensure that we are able to keep a safe and strong supply through the fall,” said Miller.

Miller explained that while blood is a vital resource, it has a limited shelf life—only 5 days for platelets and 42 days for red blood cells. This is why donors are constantly being sought year-round.

“Bloodworks is continuing to host Pop-Up Donor Centers locations that provide additional space and safety for our donors and staff around the Pacific Northwest through the end of the year,” said Miller.” We encourage all donors to find the nearest location, book an appointment, and keep it to ensure the strength our community needs during this time. This season of change depends on all of us giving hope – and blood – to each another.”
