What’s on the Agenda? Auburn City Council Study Session Nov. 8, 2021

The Auburn City Council meets every second and fourth (and fifth if there is one) Monday evening for a study session. The city council is provided presentations, informational updates, and discuss ordinance and resolutions that are up for consideration during a study session.  No votes happen during a study session.

This week’s agenda has nine scheduled presentations and discussion items for the council. As with each study session, this week’s agenda has several important items of interest to the community.

Auburn Symphony Orchestra 2021 Contract Report 
The City of Auburn has a contract with the Auburn Symphony Orchestra to assist in promoting and marketing Auburn as a destination for arts and events that in turn contribute to the economy. Performing art programs serve as an economic driver and the activities of the Auburn Symphony Orchestra assists in attracting visitors to Auburn. Representatives from the Auburn Symphony Orchestra will present their report on 2021 services and their plans for 2022.

Auburn Int’l Farmers Market 2021 Season Recap
The Auburn Int’l Farmers Market had a tremendous season in 2021 and will present data and statistics from the 2021 season along with plans for 2022.

Ordinance No. 6838
An Ordinance relating to the regulation of land uses on and surrounding the Auburn Municipal Airport, amending Chapters 18.38 and 18.04, and Sections 18.01.030 and 18.23.030 of the Auburn City Code; and, amending the Comprehensive Zoning Map creating a new airport overlay

Ordinance No. 6840
An Ordinance relating to planning; adopting 2020 Annual Comprehensive Plan Map and Text amendments pursuant to the provisions of RCW Chapter 36.70A and adopting corresponding rezones related to certain map amendments

An Ordinance amending Sections 19.02.115, 19.02.120, 19.02.130 and 19.02.140 of the Auburn City Code relating to School Impact Fees

Resolution No. 5623
A Resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Access Easement in favor of King County for access across a portion of City owned property – Tract E of Auburn 40 P. U. D.

Resolution No. 5628 
A Resolution adopting the 2022 Community Development Block Grant Action Plan for the Consolidated Plan Years 2020-2024

PAC member Cheryl Olson will update PAC’s agenda items since the last update given.

Note: Items may be added and removed from the agenda, and will be notated at the start of the study session as such.  The times listed next to each item may be the allotted time for these items, but are not necessarily adhered to, and may be extended at the council’s discretion.

    The more nonlethal tools available to the police department, the less likely there will be misjudgments in the use of lethal force. Being confronted by angry or desperate people who can become aggressive with any attempt to calm them down is not an easy thing to do.
