VRFA on scene for jackknifed Semi

Shortly after 12:30pm on December 19, 2017 Valley Regional Fire Authority. was dispatched in with Auburn Police Department to a single vehicle accident involving a jackknifed tractor-trailer.   Roads around the accident scene at Lake Tapps Pkwy and the East Valley access were blocked so rescue workers could secure the scene.  valley regional fire authority, VRFA logo, VRFA, firefighter, auburn fire The accident caused a large diesel fuel spill, requiring a  hazardous materials unit South King County Fire and Rescue to be dispatched.

The truck could not be remove from the embankment, requiring an industrial tow truck to remove pull it out.  The City of Auburn street team was also assisted in clean up of the gasoline by providing sand.  The Washington Department of Ecology will assisit in mitigating the impact of the fuel and other fluid spill from the truck.  The City of Auburn and local tow company will assist in draining the remaining fuel and fluids from the truck before removal from the scene.

This is a single vehicle incident, and the driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

Roads were blocked as VRFA and Auburn Police Department secured the scene and investigated the cause of the accident.

blocked. Valley Regional Fire Authority, the City of Auburn and Washington Department of Ecology are working as quickly as possible, however, it will take several hours due to the fuel and fluid spills that require careful clean up.
