VRFA Firefighters Need Your Help

For nearly 30 years the Valley Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 1352 has held the Toys for Kids event. This event helps ensure Auburn, Algona, and Pacific families in need have toys to have a happy holiday. Returning to Emerald Downs December 18, this year is almost no different.

VRFA firefighters have once again been unable to use their normal collection methods. This has caused a major setback for the event’s budget. That’s where you come in!

An online donation drive has been set up and gracious donors have already helped reach 40% of the $18,000 goal! But there is still nearly $11,000 to be raised. From $5.00 to $500, no amount is too small (or too big).

These donations will go toward purchasing toys (on December 16), at a discount, from Fred Meyer in Auburn.  The receipt last year was quite impressive, stretching the length of several check stands. “The Auburn Fred Meyer comes through year after year allowing us to buy all the toys for kids,” Cody Wallace, event co-organizer said. “The staff there has been great.”

The 2020 Toys for Kids event supported nearly 300 households and over 750 children, the previous year it was 900 Kids from 325 households. This year’s event is expected to meet, if not exceed, 2020’s event.

If you are able to donate, please do so today. If you can’t contribute financially, please share the fundraising information so that more folks who are able to can contribute.
